The Police detained Raymond Asoke, Noeyelle Bridget, and Raheem Fasilat as part of an intelligence operation. They are accused of stealing boxes of medicine from the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
On August 4, 2023, suspect Raymond Asoke, a driver at the Regional Hospital Bolgatanga, was detained after being observed putting boxes of medication from a certain unmarked residence into a saloon car with the license plate GE 1532 -21.
According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service, a search of the vehicle produced twelve (12) boxes of various medications. Twenty-two (22) additional boxes containing various types of drugs were found and retrieved once the search was extended inside the house.
The statement said, “Further investigation resulted in the arrest of suspects Noeyelle Bridget, the Assistant Dispensary Officer at the hospital’s pharmacy, and suspect Raheem Fasilat, the Regional storekeeper at the Regional hospital, who has admitted to handing the prescription boxes to the driver.
All three criminals are currently in detention, according to the Police, and will be brought before the court to answer for their crimes.
Currently, an investigation is in progress to identify and capture any other individuals involved and to discover the intentions of the suspects regarding the stolen medication from the hospital.
