Police in Suhum, in the Eastern Region, are on the hunt for a 22-year-old Okada rider who allegedly poisoned his partner at Koransang in Suhum.
The Okada rider, whose name has only been revealed as Akooko, was in a romantic relationship with the victim, 17-year-old Matilda Dankwa, who had just finished her Junior High School (JHS).
Speaking to the Assemblyman for the area, the deceased, who became pregnant for the Okada rider, refused to terminate the pregnancy when the suspect asked her to.
A short while after the suspect arrived for the deceased on a motorcycle on Monday, she was discovered with foam seeping from her mouth. She may have been poisoned, according to the police.
The police who arrived at the crime scene to transport the deceased’s body to the mortuary of the Suhum government hospital have started an inquiry to find the suspect, Akooko, who has been on the run.
According to Ransford Norvor, an assemblyman for Koransang, who confirmed the occurrence to the media, “the deceased completed school this year. Matilda Dankwa is her name. Her lover picked her up from her home at around 4 p.m., and 30 minutes after they left, word of her death arrived, claims an eyewitness.
The deceased woman was allegedly poisoned by her lover since the eyewitness claimed she was pregnant and her boyfriend wanted her to abort the pregnancy. We are unable to determine what actually occurred, thus the police are the only ones who can.
Police are looking into the incident and are requesting any information from the public that could help them apprehend the culprit.
