AC Milan has officially confirmed the acquisition of Spain’s striker, Alvaro Morata, from Atletico Madrid. This follows his commendable leadership as the captain, leading Spain to victory in the Euro 2024 championship.
The former Chelsea forward has joined the renowned Italian club for a reported fee of 30 million euros (£25.28m) on a four-year contract, which includes an option to extend for an additional year.
In an official statement dated Friday, July 19, 2024, AC Milan expressed their pride in securing the signing of Álvaro Borja Morata Martín from Club Atlético de Madrid.
As the captain of the Spanish national team, he recently secured the European Championship. Morata has committed to the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, with the possibility of extending for an additional year.
At 31 years old, Morata concludes a four-year tenure at Atletico, which encompassed two years on loan at Juventus. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 172 goals in 506 appearances, having represented esteemed clubs such as Real Madrid and Chelsea.
His illustrious array of club accolades includes two Champions League titles, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, two La Liga titles, and two Serie A titles.
He has championed numerous domestic cups in both Spain and Italy. Furthermore, he has amassed 36 goals in 80 appearances for Spain, including triumph in the UEFA Nations League in 2023.
Morata tasked to revive AC Milan attack
AC Milan, who missed out on the Scudetto last season by finishing second with 19 points behind Inter Milan, see Morata’s addition as a significant boost to their attacking options.
This move comes especially with the departure of Olivier Giroud, who had been an instrumental figure for the club in recent years.
The Rossoneri fans will be eagerly anticipating Morata’s impact as they prepare for the new season, hoping his experience and goal-scoring prowess will propel them back to the top of Italian football.
