Two people were injured in a dispute between supposed land guards and wood dealers in Akwatialine, Asokore Mampong Municipality, Ashanti region.
In recent months, the Asokore Mampong Municipality has underlined the importance of transferring hundreds of wood merchants from Akwatialine in order to allow the area’s rehabilitation.
Some woodworkers were injured after a conflict with security operatives in April 2023 when they refused to leave the area where they operate.
Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive Kennedy Kankam had claimed in an interview with Citi News that the woodworkers would be allowed to work in the newly constructed stores once they were completed.
While some woodworkers continue to oppose the redevelopment plans, and the case is still in court, construction on the redevelopment project has already begun.
