According to President Akufo-Addo, 100 advanced senior high schools would be constructed nationwide by the government.
He claims that 30 of these schools will be built by the end of the year and that the project will fundamentally alter the educational landscape.
Speaking to dignitaries on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Ghana Smart Schools Project launch in Accra, the President clarified that the project is designed to provide students covered by the free SHS policy with fundamental technological skills, in line with the government’s objective of advancing education through technology.
“The administration is still looking for creative methods to advance the Free SHS program. The government is certain that digitization will drive the next stage of improvements to Free SHS.
“By itself, this will create a flawless teaching and learning environment both online and offline. The upgraded Free SHS will be more eco-friendly, increase productivity, and improve academic achievement with info-active learning and display. which is what’s spawning the Ghana Smart School initiative,” said President Akufo-Addo.
“The project aims to enhance the use of IT in teaching and learning at the second cycle level,” he went on. In the end, it will improve students’ performance and better position them for future higher education and competitive professions.
The supply of updated infrastructure is the second part of the Ghana Smart School project. The goal of the government is to construct 100 smart schools nationwide.
