President Akufo-Addo faces the possibility of being impeached by the Minority in Parliament for refusing to sign the anti-gay bill.
A recent directive from the Presidency to Parliament, according to Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, asking the Parliament clerk to stop forwarding the anti-LGBTQ bill to the Jubilee House, is inappropriate and uncalled for.
On Thursday, March 21, Ato Forson declared in Parliament that the Minority is dedicated to defending the nation’s constitution and will not tolerate any usurpations.
“In this, we support the Speaker of Parliament. The NDC Minority will not tolerate the weird direction this country is taking under the President of Ghana’s leadership. Let him and his administration know this.
“I want to conclude by saying that we will counsel ourselves since it is evident that His Excellency the President has violated the constitution. Don’t be shocked if we start the impeachment process against the President in the next few days.
