A Basic School teacher in the Ashanti Region’s Asante Akyem Agogo was brutally murdered for reportedly pursuing another man’s girlfriend.
On the night of Tuesday, July 11, 2023, an unknown masked man allegedly attacked the victim, Maxwell Opoku, 37.
He died as a result of his injuries at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Maxwell Opoku, a teacher at Saint Augustine R/C Junior High School in Agogo, was assaulted by an unknown assailant shortly after meeting a 22-year-old seamstress near the school at around 9:00 p.m. that fateful day.
Witnesses said the teacher shouted in anguish, pleading for help while he was being pummeled. Those who arrived on the scene discovered him in a pool of blood.
Mr Opoku was attacked with multiple machete wounds to the head, hands, and other portions of his body.
According to reports, the teacher had already received threats regarding his relationship with the young seamstress from an anonymous individual.
Enock Asiedu, Assembly member for Agogo Obuase Electoral Area, verified the occurrence, stating that the police had launched an inquiry.
He went on to say that the lady involved had been detained by police to help with the investigation.
