Leading NDC member Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has urged delegates to cast large numbers of ballots for former president John Dramani Mahama in order to increase the party’s prospects of regaining power.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday, Mr. Spio-Garbrah stated that among the three candidates, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and Kojo Bonsu, Mr. Mahama remained the only one who had been tried and tested.
His justification is that Mr. Mahama is the only one who can “rescue” Ghana from its current economic problems and reposition Ghana to become once again appealing.
Spio-Garbrah, who ran for flagbearer in the 2020 elections but lost to Mr. Mahama, said his support is contingent on research done by his team that forecasts Mahama would win by 80%.
While supporting Mahama, Mr. Spio-Gabrah praised his two opponents, Dr. Duffuor and Mr. Bonsu, for making the audacious decision to take on the former president. He expressed the hope that they would make themselves available to work with Mr. Mahama following this coming Saturday’s internal elections.
Additionally, he urged attendees to support his son, Dr. Kobina Sebastian Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, who is running for parliament for the Western Region’s Essikado-Ketan Constituency.
