The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, has criticized the government for not developing the six new regions created by the Akufo-Addo administration.
According to Mahama, these regions are merely symbolic entities without substantial development. During a meeting with traditional authorities at the Jakpa Palace, he vowed to prioritize the development of the newly created regions if elected.
Mahama stated that it’s easy to create a region, but it must have certain things that make it a region.
He believes that the six created regions are not yet fully developed and lack the essential features that should be present in a region.
Mahama promised that if the NDC comes into power, it will ensure that all the six new regions have the necessary features to be called a region.
The former President also expressed disappointment in the government’s decision to halt the Damomgo Water Project.
Mahama highlighted the importance of tangible development initiatives in these regions and emphasized his unwavering commitment to fostering their progress if allowed to lead.
The NDC’s “Building Ghana Tour,” an ongoing initiative, is designed to address public concerns and integrate them into the party’s manifesto for the upcoming election.
