Ghanaian filmmaker and director Lil Win recently shared the challenges faced during the production of his latest movie, ‘A Country Called Ghana’. Originally planned with an all-Ghanaian cast, Lil Win decided to include some Nigerian actors to appeal to a wider international audience, especially for platforms like Netflix.
As a result, he suggested casting two Nigerian actors, Charles Anwurum and Victor Osuagwu, also known as ‘Awilo Sharp Sharp’.
In an interview, Lil Win explained that Ramsey Nouah joined the project at the last minute after the original lead cast withdrew just 10 days before filming began. Initially, a well-known “light-skinned Ghanaian actor” was chosen for the role, but after negotiations, the actor withdrew from the project due to budget concerns when Nigerian actors were cast.
Despite reaching a new agreement, the Ghanaian actor continued to make changes to the initial plan that were not favorable. This led Lil Win to end their deal and cast Ramsey Nouah instead.
Getting Ramsey Nouah on board was a smooth process, and he agreed to the terms set by the production team. With half of the payment secured, Ramsey Nouah travelled to Ghana to work on the project.
Lil Win mentioned that he would reveal the name of the “light-skinned Ghanaian actor” who gave him a hard time after the movie premiere.
