Paris Saint-Germain are close to hiring Luis Enrique as their new manager.
PSG have not confirmed the departure of manager Christophe Galtier, although it is commonly anticipated that his time at the club will end this summer.
Galtier, 56, was named as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor in July 2022, but he failed to live up to expectations.
Since departing Spain during the World Cup in Qatar, Luis Enrique has been connected with a number of jobs.
After talks with former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann fell down, PSG resorted to the 53-year-old.
Luis Enrique rose through the ranks at Barcelona before taking over as head coach from 2014 to 2017.
PSG are bent on resetting the club and attempting to develop a team rather than maintaining the club’s philosophy of adding a slew of expensive high-profile players, which has so far failed to bring the Champions League success desired by the club’s Qatari owners.
Galtier had a successful start to his career in Paris, avoiding defeat in 22 games across all competitions, and PSG were five points clear at the top of Ligue 1 when the season was halted for the World Cup.
However, as club football resumed, they lost nine times and crawled to the finish line barely a point ahead of Lens in the league, while leaving the Champions League in the last 16 to Bayern.
