According to court documents submitted as part of the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) efforts to freeze Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts, the OSP has confiscated a total of GH2.73 million and US$590,000 in cash that was discovered in her home.
The application claims that the $590,000 and GH2.73 million were found following an investigation by OSP investigators at the Abelemkpe residence.
The OSP later took the cash because it believed it to be infested property.
In addition, the OSP seeks the court’s permission to keep the money it has seized in storage and to continue freezing Cecilia Dapaah’s Prudential Bank and Societe Generale bank accounts in order to conduct additional investigations into possible corruption and crimes related to corruption against the minister.
The OSP claimed that it had become necessary to stop the former minister’s bank accounts from being hidden or misplaced in a request for confirmation of the freezing order made to the High Court.
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, the application is anticipated to be transferred.
In accordance with the application, $590,000 and GH2.73 million were reportedly found after OSP investigators conducted an investigation at the Abelemkpe property.
