The #OccupyBoG protest organisers are going to give a sigh of relief and proceed with their planned demonstration on Tuesday, October 3.
This is due to an Accra High Court ruling that the Ghana Police Service’s protocols for serving the respondents were inefficient.
On Friday, September 29, principal state attorney George Tetteh Sackey informed the court that he had served the documents to each respondent.
However, the court presided over by Justice Edward Twum noted that because only three of the four respondents had proof of service, the case was therefore completed.
The police were requesting a court order to force the protest organizers to specify the rally’s path.
“There must be proof of service on each party before I can hold a hearing for you. Currently, only Ato Forson has not received service, according to Justice Twum.
The lawsuit has been postponed until October 11th.
The #OccupyBoGdemo, led by Minority MPs and other organizations, aims to demand the resignation of Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison and his appointees in response to the bank’s GH60.8 billion loss.
