The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, has vowed to remain in the race to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
One of the four candidates vying to lead the party, Mr. Agyapong, declared his intention to stand his ground against all opposition.
On November 4, the NPP will choose its flagbearer, setting the stage for a crucial choice in the course of the party.
Mr. Agyapong announced on his platform on X, formerly Twitter, “I’m not going to step down for anybody.”

He highlighted the need to wait until the election’s inevitable end before considering any post-election options in a different internet video that has gone viral. Looking at how they were treated on the 26th of last month (during the Super Delegates voting), I felt it wasn’t proper, Mr. Agyapong said, “Coming together will depend on how we conduct this November 4 election.”
The vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is expected to emerge as the front-runner in the intensely fought NPP presidential primary.
Alan Kyerematen, another candidate for the flagbearer role, withdrew from the campaign after alleging intimidation and unfair procedural practices in the run-up to the Special Delegates Conference, prompting Mr. Agyapong’s determination. Kyerematen received 95 votes from the more than 900 delegates, placing him third behind Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Agyapong.
