Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, the chairman of the Ayawaso-West-Wuogon Constituency, has been suspended by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for improper behavior.
Six months of Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey’s party membership have been suspended. The decision was made by the Greater Accra NDC, who cited a violation of Articles 48(8) and 49(c) of the Party’s Constitution as revised at the 9th Congress in support of their decision.
The suspension of Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey was due to his interactions with the media about internal party matters, according to Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, the NDC’s Greater Regional Secretary.
It is believed that this behavior violates party rules. Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey has been referred to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for additional inquiry per the party’s disciplinary processes specified in article 48(1). The suspension implies that for the duration of the six-month period, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey will be prohibited from taking part in party activities and holding any official positions within the NDC.
