On Thursday morning, National Democratic Congress (NDC) minority members of parliament abstained from a parliamentary meeting in order to support and stand by two of its members who were participating in a criminal prosecution.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the minority leader, and James Gyakye Quayson for Assin North all made court appearances on Thursday morning.
With regard to the procurement of 200 ambulances between 2014 and 2016, Dr. Ato Forson is accused of costing the state €2.37 million in damages. He is in court today to answer to those allegations.
James Gyakye Quayson is facing forgery and perjury accusations and is currently in court.
In a statement, the Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza, stated that the reason for the group’s decision to abstain from the day’s legislative activities was due to their everlasting support for their fellow lawmakers and the need of maintaining unity.
“The Minority stands united with our colleagues, and as such will not be able to honour the business of the house today.
