In Abuakwa Manhyia, in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti region, two siblings thought to be mentally unstable are in police custody after allegedly setting their house on fire. Their mother died in the fire.
The brothers got into a fight with their grandmother, who lives in the same house and threatened to burn her alive, according to the assembly member for the area.
Their grandmother immediately reported the threat to the police after spotting the danger.
The brothers set fire to the house when their grandmother was away. Their mother died because they didn’t realize she was sick and was inside the house.
The mother had died in the fire, and the entire house had been burned by the time firefighters were able to put it out.
The victim’s burnt body has been brought to the morgue, and the police are beginning their investigation into what happened.
Evans Opoku, an assembly member representing the Abuakwa-Manhyia electoral area, recounted the incident “It was intentional; he was trying to burn the house and he wanted to kill his grandmother, but the grandmother rushed to the police station to report the guy that the guy has threatened to kill her,” Opoku said.
Thus, he was setting the house and the grandma on fire. not realizing the grandmother had departed. So, the guy’s mother was burned before they realized it.
Since they were two, the police took them into custody. The pair was arrested yesterday, according to the police, who claimed that they were the cause of the incident.
