Asante Kotoko came from behind to defeat Hearts of Oak 3-2 on matchday 14 of the Ghana Premier League.
Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala scored twice to secure the victory for Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, December 10.
Hearts took the lead through Linda Mtange’s goal in the 39th minute, but Isaac Oppong equalized for Kotoko just before halftime.
In the second half, Kotoko came out stronger and took the lead when Mukwala pounced on a rebound from a Richmond Ayi save. Despite Hearts’ protests of an offside, the goal stood.
Mukwala then sealed the win for Kotoko with his second goal of the game, capitalizing on a mistake by the Hearts defense to score into an empty net.
Hearts of Oak scored a late goal in added time, but it was not enough to salvage a point. With the victory, Asante Kotoko have now won their last four games in the Premier League, scoring eight goals in that period.
