Kojo Bonsu, a candidate for flagbearer in the National Democratic Congress, has urged Dr. Kwabena Duffuor to take the party’s interests into account and drop his lawsuit challenging the party’s primary process.
Dr. Duffuor should, in his opinion, make himself available to the Council of Elders, National Executives, and the Election Directorate so that they can discuss and find a cooperative solution to the party’s current election-related difficulties.
One of the three candidates for president, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, requested a court order on Tuesday preventing the party from holding the poll.
Concerns over alleged anomalies in the party’s electoral roll were among the issues Dr. Duffuor brought up in his writ, which was justification for his action.
Due to the legal dispute, the Electoral Commission, which was in charge of overseeing the election, stayed out of it.
The former mayor of Kumasi claimed in a statement on Friday that internal and amicable solutions may be found for the problems mentioned by Dr. Duffuor.
“I implore Dr. Duffour to be patient and consider the interests of the party as a whole since I know he has no malicious intentions and only hopes that the proper steps will be taken to ensure a smooth election that is free of any hurdles so that everyone can compete on an even playing field.
In order to allay the worries and assist the election directorate in conducting free, fair, and transparent presidential and parliamentary primaries, I also implore the National Executive to engage and keep in discussion with stakeholders.
