Doctors at KATH have entrusted management, the Regional Coordinating Council and the Lands Commission to prevent a private developer from taking possession of their bungalows, allowing them to resume work on Friday, March 15.
This follows a strike by the doctors on Wednesday, March 13, due to accommodation issues. The Out-Patient Department (OPD) was crowded with patients seeking medical attention, with some left stranded as nurses explained why they were not receiving treatment.
The Association has received assurance from KATH management and stakeholders that they do not need to search for accommodation.
“After meeting with our stakeholders, they have promised to assist us in finding accommodation.
Therefore, we do not see any reason why we should search for accommodation on our own. Our management, along with the other stakeholders, will arrange accommodation for us,” he said.
Mr. Leat confirmed that members will not be harassed, as promised by the management and stakeholders.
“We trust them, so there is no need to worry. Our members have also agreed to what the management and other stakeholders have said, so both sides, management and staff, and stakeholders are satisfied.”
