This was one of his rarest opportunities since he formally assumed the job of combating corruption and offenses related to corruption.
Generally upbeat, Kissi Agyebeng never seems irritated when speaking in public because, ever since taking office as Prosecutor, he has presented himself as a man who is prepared to take action.
The Special Prosecutor’s behaviour during the recently concluded news conference held under his authority, however, indicates that all he is currently clinging to is his sense of patriotism and his unwavering resolve to eradicate corruption to the best of his abilities.
In an attempt to effectively prosecute cases, he had brought together a group of journalists to voice his concerns about the judiciary.
“As I mentioned, I didn’t mean to sound like a prophet of doom, but there is a murderer who will soon boldly walk to seek an injunction; Doom is looming ahead of us.” Should I give up because I’m frustrated? He declared on Wednesday, “I took an oath and when I take on the reins to do something, I do it to the best of my ability.”
A visibly unhappy and concerned Mr. Kissi Agyabeng informed the journalists that the growing trend of some judges slanting cases against the OSP could potentially undermine the fight against corruption.
“Let us present to you the evidence that is the main focus of our investigation. You are free to reject it if you examine it and determine that the evidence does not support the level of proof needed in criminal cases, but that won’t stop us from carrying out our investigation and working on the case. It’s risky.”
To effectively combat the graft, the Special Prosecutor made a call for assistance.
