On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Kenyan President William Ruto is scheduled to land in Ghana for a three-day state visit.
Kenya and Ghana plan to sign bilateral agreements during the visit that address a range of topics of shared interest, such as public service, trade and investment, education and research, and capacity building.
Before President Ruto’s visit, Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and Prime Cabinet Secretary, arrived in Accra on Monday evening. Ambassador Eliphas Barine, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, greeted him at Kotoka International Airport.
Ghana declared in March of last year that it will use the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to create an Export Trade House (ETH) to improve economic ties with Kenya.

Kenya was one of the seven countries chosen to test a continental free trade area aimed at facilitating the flow of products and services throughout Africa. In September 2022, Kenya sent its first shipment of locally produced batteries to Ghana.
The United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade indicates that Kenya exported goods worth $10.3 million to Ghana in 2021.
Key products exported from Ghana to Kenya during the same period included cocoa powder, rubber, and other live plants, cuttings, and slips, as well as mushroom spawn.
