Former Member of Parliament for Navrongo, Mark Owen Woyongo, has passed away.
The Woyongo family released a press statement on Thursday, January 18th, announcing that he passed away the day before, on Wednesday, January 17th, at the Bank of Ghana Hospital. The statement reads, “The head of the Woyongo family, Mr. Awini Zinge of Nayagnia–Navrongo, wishes to announce with deep sorrow the death of their beloved son and brother, Hon. Mark Owen Woyongo.
The sad event occurred on Wednesday, 17th January 2024 at the Bank of Ghana Hospital.”
Mark Woyongo was a former Interior Minister who represented Navrongo in Parliament. He was also the owner and CEO of Diamond FM, a Tamale-based radio station. In 2016, he retired from politics after losing the election. Recently, he laid his 49-year-old son, Kenneth Kwotua, to rest. His wife, Cecilia Wuni Woyongo, survives him.
