It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Felix Owusu-Adjapong, former Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at the age of 79.
The Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, confirmed the news on Twitter on Wednesday, October 4th. Owusu-Adjapong was a respected figure who also served as the Majority Leader.
It is with great sadness that I offer my deepest condolences to the family of the late Hon. Felix Owusu. He was a former majority leader and Minister in the Kufuor administration. Hon.
Owusu was first elected in 1996 and was a member of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Parliaments.
Though he resigned his ministerial position to contest the NPP presidential race in 2007, he was unsuccessful.
Joseph Ampomah Bosompem of the NPP won the 2008 general parliamentary election, while he did not participate.
In June 2008, he became the Minister of Energy and held the position until the end of Kufuor’s administration in January 2009.
