Any Ghanaian who evaluates the work of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, objectively will see it, according to Kwabena Owusu Sekyere, chairman of the NPP’s Ahafo regional committee.
Since the IGP took office, he says, operations and public confidence in the Police have increased.
Stop stabbing the backs of the dedicated people. Every Ghanaian can see what this man is doing, simple as that. Even if you don’t like him, you can see that his leadership has improved the police service greatly. We find it difficult to embrace those who can transform since we are so accustomed to doing wrong.
“All previous IGPs served their time and left, but if you observe the changes, the visibility, the public’s trust in the service, and everything else, you can tell that he is the best IGP Ghana has had in many years, and we must safeguard and defend individuals like him. We have allowed a few envious people to cause damage to someone in my area where I see police officers on motorcycles everywhere I go.
The IGP testified before the parliamentary ad hoc committee on Tuesday over the recording that was leaked exposing certain police officers planning his dismissal. Before the committee, his accusers had already made an appearance.
The committee will resume meeting on October 2, 2023, after a break.
