Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, the independent candidate for the impending Ejisu by-election, has denied rumours that he has switched to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking to the media following the end of his campaign, Mr Aduomi emphasized that he had a lot of support from NDC members and attributed it to his previous efforts as a member of parliament.
He angrily refuted claims that he was a New Patriotic Party (NPP) traitor for siding with the NDC.
“I do not belong to the NDC. My effort has helped the NDC members, which is why they like me. I wear NDC colors; where have they seen me wear them?
“My work for the constituency and my decision to become independent has made the NDC people want to vote for me.”
“I am not a traitor, and the NPP should not favor some persons over others or fail to address any concerns that are troubling any member of the party.
“If the president has the party and the Ejisu constituency at heart, he will ensure that the issues that the people presented will be rectified, even with those phoney elections that they said were done at the voting centres”
Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has urged constituents in Ejisu to prioritise continuity and progress by voting for the party’s candidate, Kwabena Boateng.
Bawumia warned against giving votes to independent candidates during the last campaign rally before the April 30 Ejisu by-election, stating that doing so would unintentionally help the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Mahama.
With the NPP controlling 138 seats compared to the NDC’s 137 in parliament, Bawumia emphasized how important each vote was in achieving a larger mandate for the ruling party.
The former MP, however, has denied the claim, stating that the reason NDC members adore him is due of his previous work in the constituency, which helped them.
