The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to appear before Parliament on Friday, July 19, 2024, to provide a comprehensive briefing on their preparations for the 2024 General Elections.
The meeting is set to take place in the chamber and has been convened in response to a specific request from members of Parliament. The briefing aims to gain a detailed understanding of the electoral management body’s readiness for the forthcoming polls.
During the proceedings on Thursday, July 18, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, made the announcement, emphasizing the importance of this engagement. He stated, “We have arranged for the Electoral Commission to attend and update us on the progress made thus far in preparations for the 2024 elections.
Members are encouraged to come forward with any inquiries or concerns related to the EC’s activities. We aim to inquire and gain insight into their operational measures respectfully.
” It is essential to note that Ghana is poised to hold its presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7. This briefing will allow for a thorough assessment of the EC’s plans and endeavours in the lead-up to this significant electoral event.
