Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a statesman and founding member of the New Patriotic Party, has noted that the current economic crisis will be resolved if government officials return funds they are accused of stealing from public coffers.
According to him, Ghana’s economic difficulties stem from the type of leadership we have.
“The current economic problem in Ghana is due to politicians siphoning money out of the country. Dr. Nyaho believes that if the money is brought back, Ghana will be at peace.
“The country is being run on autopilot’’ he asserted.
Comparing the country’s governance to the military, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said the situation leaves much to be desired.
“A leader must put his ears on the ground for feedback and know who to appoint at a particular time, who does what and when you are incompetent you are removed from the post” the ex-military officer cited.
The NPP stalwart lamented that Ghanaian leaders have not developed the habit of resigning when they cannot perform the tasks assigned to them.
“Our biggest problem in this country is the leaders do not stick to principles and the culture of leaders resigning is unknown,” he stressed.
The statesman expressed worry that the youth are toeing the lines of the current leaders.
“It’s worrying to see the youth not learning from the wrongdoing of the leaders, rather they copy them. I can’t understand it that a student leaves university and joins a political party, within two years he starts amassing wealth,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe lamented.
