The presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has warned politicians against regarding Ghanaians as passive citizens who are inclined to avoid trouble.
The Archbishop noted that previous happenings in the country involving violence and bloodshed were perpetrated by Ghanaians.
“Nobody should think that the Ghanaian is a very gentle, don’t-like-trouble human being. It’s not true. Because I saw what happened in ’79 and ’81 and they were Ghanaians,” he said.
The Christian Ecumenical Council was present at an event that Archbishop Duncan Williams was speaking at, which was arranged by the John Mahama Campaign.
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), the National Council of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACC), Apostolic Fathers, the Council of Independent Churches, and the Christian Council of Ghana comprise the council.
Additionally, he maintained that it would be disastrous to assume Ghanaians are kind people.
The Archbishop said, “They might be playing with fire if we don’t manage things well and we have this mentality and thinking that any party can do whatever they want and the Ghanaian will accept it and the Ghanaian will live for it.”
He linked the nation’s inclination toward violence when given the chance to do so to the current state of economic distress.
