In the Eastern region’s Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency, tensions are rising due to the defacing of posters belonging to Hayford Siaw, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate.
The Ghana Library Authority CEO Hayford Siaw’s supporters confronted those tagging Mr. Siaw’s posters around the constituency.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the area’s current member of parliament, is being challenged by Mr Siaw.
The publicity team for Mr. Siaw has been strategically placing their candidate posters in different neighbourhoods in anticipation of the party’s primaries on January 27.
But they’ve found that a mystery person is taking down these posters every night.
A man who appears to be from the current MP’s camp is seen in a video physically abusing a member of Siaw’s team when the member questions the man about defacing Siaw’s posters.
Faculty tv sources claim that as tensions between the two camps increased, bystanders had to step in to stop the situation from getting worse.
Supporters of Mr Siaw have denounced these actions, calling them cowardly, and have asked the police to look into them and bring the offenders accountable.
Thus far, attempts to contact the current Nsawam Adoagyiri Member of Parliament have failed.
