Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingston has expressed concerns about Otto Addo’s tactics, suggesting that they may be hindering the Black Stars from playing more expressive and dominant football. He believes that, given the quality of players in the team, the Black Stars should adopt a more aggressive approach from the start of games and maintain control throughout.
Speaking ahead of the return leg against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Kingston emphasized that the team has the talent to overwhelm opponents. He pointed to the strong performances of players like Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, Issahaku, and Kudus Muhammad at their respective European clubs as evidence of the attacking potential within the squad.
However, he hinted that the current game plan may be limiting the players’ ability to fully express themselves in attacking positions, as seen in their goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg. With Ghana sitting third in Group F, two points behind Sudan, there is concern that the Black Stars may miss out on AFCON qualification for the first time in 20 years. Kingston urged the team to go all out in the return fixture to secure a vital win.
