The late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu’s partner, Marie Claire-Rupio, has responded to criticism of a dance video she posted on social media.
She said in her statement that dancing helps her deal with the sadness she is feeling as a result of Atsu’s unexpected death.
The dancer and writer Claire-Rupio, who was born in Germany, uploaded a video of herself dancing to Davido’s hit song “Unavailable.” However, the comments under the video were full of criticism rather than encouragement or empathetic responses.
Claire-Rupio answered the criticism she got in a message that was posted on her Instagram story. “I am writing just to say a few things, yes I posted a dance video,” she stated in her letter. Not because I am joyful, but rather because I need to figure out how to handle my pain. I have three children to care for on my own, so I’m not alone. I must be strong for them, so I can’t let myself fall apart. Dancing was always my passion, and in Europe, you deal with mental health in many different ways. So excuse me, but just consider what you’re writing or posting before you do it. I’m grateful.
She continued to discuss the difficulties she encounters on a daily basis, saying, “We miss Christian every single day, and it hasn’t been easy. especially if you have three kids who beg for their dad on a daily basis! I’m giving it my all.
The tragic earthquake in Turkey in February claimed the life of the former Ghanaian winger.
