The Ministry of Finance has approved 177 million Ghana cedis to pay the outstanding debt owed to trainee nurses across Ghana. The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, assured that the government is committed to keeping its promises.
He mentioned that the money would be transferred to the Ministry of Health to pay the nurses’ trainee allowances.
Dr. Bawumia also promised to address the issue of unpaid allowances raised by a final-year nursing student.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting nurses and midwives, ensuring timely payments and taking steps to reduce the backlog of unemployed nurses and midwives.
