Edward Bawa, the Member of Parliament for Bongo, has expressed serious concerns regarding a potentially corrupt arrangement between the Ghana National Gas Company Limited and The Gas Gathering Company Limited (TGGL).
He highlighted an $812 million deal for the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant Train 2 (GPP2) under a Build, Co-own, Cooperate, and Transfer (BCCT) agreement, criticizing its lack of transparency and the effort to bypass scrutiny through a restricted tendering process.
Bawa noted the alarming influence of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s family in the structure of TGGL, raising suspicions of political manipulation, especially with national elections approaching.
He called for immediate intervention from stakeholders to halt the deal and ensure proper legal and parliamentary oversight to protect public trust and accountability.
