The Executive Secretary in the Presidency has been named an Ambassador-at-Large by President Akufo-Addo.
Among the appointees, Mr. Bediatuo was one of five ambassadors, three high commissioners, and one ambassador-at-large who were given the vital responsibility of representing Ghana in other nations and international organizations.
Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, the newly appointed High Commissioner-designate for Nigeria; Mrs. Francisca Ashietey-Oduntun, the High Commissioner-designate for South Africa; Mr. Ernest Yaw Amporful, the High Commissioner-designate for Rwanda; Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh, the Ambassador-designate for Türkiye; Mr. Henry Tachie-Menson, the Ambassador-designate for Belgium and the EU; Mrs. Charity Gbedawo, the Ambassador-designate for Morocco; Ms. Abigail Naa Adzoko Kwashi, the Ambassador-designate for Norway; Dr. Robert Afriyie, the Ambassador-designate for Ethiopia and the African Union; and Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Ambassador-at-Large for Africa.
President Akufo-Addo stressed in his speech the vital role these diplomats play in achieving Ghana’s goals and improving its standing abroad. He said, “Your main duty is to advance Ghana’s reputation as a stable, peaceful, and progressive nation.”
“This means interacting with your host countries to cultivate solid bilateral ties, draw in investments, and promote Ghana’s interests.”
Given the global difficulties posed by the COVID-19 epidemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the President emphasized the significance of encouraging international cooperation and strengthening diplomatic ties. He noted that for Ghana to manage these difficulties successfully, strong relationships with other countries are essential.
“High Commissioners-designate and Ambassadors-designate, your postings have come at a particularly critical juncture not only in global affairs but also in the journey of our nation’s development,” President Akufo-Addo noted. “The world is gradually emerging from the shadows of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has left a profound impact on all facets of life.”
