The controversy surrounding the decision to sell hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to the Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City Hotels, is unnecessary, President Akufo-Addo said.
The president noted that SSNIT made a profit of over GHȼ230 million, which he believes is indicative of the gains being made by the state agency. The president said that SSNIT is a state-owned enterprise that is responsible for managing the social security and national insurance schemes in Ghana.
He said that the decision to sell the hotels was made after a careful consideration of the financial implications and the long-term benefits to the country.
