After missing out on starting for Arsenal’s previous two Premier League games, Thomas Partey has issued a statement.
The Italian midfielder Jorginho took over for the Ghanaian deputy captain, who has started 26 league games for the Gunners this season.
Partey admitted to Standard Sports that he was unconcerned about losing his spot in the starting XI.
It’s something that always happens to me. Competition has always been a positive thing for me. I like it,” he declared. “I am really happy for him (Jorginho),” I said, “because he was the best in training for a few weeks, and then you see that in the game at the end.”
Partey continued by praising his teammate’s recent accomplishments and emphasizing the value of competitiveness within the group.
“I am really delighted for him, and I’m also glad that every player is prepared to compete, so nobody can get any rest. It’s a good thing, in my opinion, and I hope that everyone in that position will be prepared to step up when the opportunity arises. The club’s goal is to foster competition, which both encourages us to play to the best of our abilities and aids in the club’s continued growth.
With only three games left, Arsenal runs the risk of losing the Premier League championship this year after falling behind Manchester City.
