A 20yr old Kwadwo OPOKU unemployed has been sentenced to 30yrs imprisonment in hardlabour for robbery.
Court prosecutor ASP Newlove Adjei told the court presided over by H/H Fred Obekyere esq that on 23/02/2023 at 12:00am a level hundred student of AAMUSTED left home to proceed for lectures and upon reaching sofoline interchange met Kwadwo Opoku coming from the opposite direction.
Kwadwo Opoku on seeing the student was walking alone ordered her to surrender all her belongings to him.
The student pleaded with Kwadwo to spare her since she was a student and has no money with her but Kwadwo turned deaf ear to her plea, rushed on her and forcefully snatched her school bag containing one ladies watch, exercise book, text book and a phone charger all valued at GH 700.00 and subsequently took to his heels.
Kwadwo OPOKU was given a hot chase by the neighbors who heard the student shouting for help and he was arrested.
The school bag was taken from him and was sent to the Suntreso police.
He pleaded not guilty before the court but after several investigations he was found guilty and was sentenced to 30yrs imprisonment in hard labour.
