You can count on Ghanaian athlete Rose Yeboah for an outstanding performance. She secured the gold medal in the women’s high jump at the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Seniors Championships in Douala. Yeboah confidently defended her title by surpassing Nigeria’s Temitope Adenisa with a clearance height of 1.87 meters.
Yeboah’s exceptional journey in the high jump began five years ago and has been distinguished by a series of remarkable achievements. Her international acclaim began with a gold medal at the U-20 African Juniors Athletics Championships in Abidjan, attained with a jump of 1.83 meters.
Following this, she continued to dominate by clinching gold at the All-Africa University Games in Egypt. Furthermore, in 2019, Yeboah excelled by securing gold at the African Games in Rabat, demonstrating a clearance of 1.84 meters. This triumph was followed by her first gold at the African Seniors Athletics Championships in Mauritius in 2021, achieved with a jump of 1.79 meters.
Yeboah’s dedication and confidence were evident when, as a student at the University of Cape Coast in 2023, she set a new national record at the FISU Games, achieving a remarkable leap of 1.94 meters. This feat not only earned her another gold medal but also qualified her for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Despite not participating in the World Championships, she claimed gold at the African Games held at the University of Ghana Stadium with a jump of 1.90 meters.
In 2024, she achieved a significant milestone by confidently qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and becoming the first Ghanaian female high jumper to secure an Olympic berth with a qualifying jump of 1.97 meters. As her impressive streak continued, she confidently won gold in Douala, marking her second gold medal in six months.
