Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has pledged to give all disabled people who enrol in Ghanaian universities free postsecondary education.
As part of his ongoing national tour, he disclosed this to the clergy during a meeting in the Western North Region.
Although scholarships are intended to be awarded to a wide range of people, Dr. Bawumia claims that his government will give preference to those who have disabilities.
The NPP flagbearer announced that starting in 2025, the scholarship will pay for all residential and educational expenses for those with disabilities.
“I know exactly how to go about it. We will provide a little more help for people with disabilities. We are offering scholarships to everyone, but I’m also going to donate a portion of the proceeds to the GET Fund and our scholarship secretariat, which will enable all individuals with disabilities who are accepted into universities to receive free postsecondary education, including housing and tuition.
