A group identifying itself as the Ashanti Democrats has announced plans to hold a vigil in Accra to push for an end to the ongoing power problems.
This exercise was successfully organized in Kumasi on April 18, and the group says it’s time to move it closer to Accra, Ghana’s administrative capital.
One of the organizers of the event, Henry Osei Akoto, told the media that having the vigil just in Kumasi was insufficient.
One of the most reliable ways to increase pressure on the government and draw attention to the severe effects of power outages on businesses and people is to move the vigil around, according to Henry Osei Akoto.
“If you don’t resolve ‘dumsor,’ we will mobilize Ghanaians on the streets very soon.” Simply put, the hassle is too great. You assured Ghanaians that we would have a steady supply of electricity, but look where you have led us.
The Ashanti Democrats, under the leadership of Jerry James Sukkah, organize the Dumsor Vigil, which is a protest against the inconsistent power supply throughout the nation. The date of the Accra edition has not yet been confirmed.
