Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, has demanded an apology from the Nana Addo administration for vilifying Engineers and Planners CEO, Ibrahim Mahama.
Adongo accused leading members of the NPP, including opposition MPs, of criticizing Mr Mahama for dredging the Odaw River at no cost to the state, which was aimed at addressing the flooding situation in Accra.
Adongo made this call while considering the report of the finance committee on an additional financing agreement between the government of Ghana and the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank, which is worth $150,000,000.
This fund is meant to finance the ongoing Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project.
Adongo further questioned the basis for the criticisms against Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of former President Mahama, who was assisting with the dredging at no cost to the state.
He urged the majority to apologize to Ibrahim Mahama for the work he did for free, which is now being used as the basis for requesting $200 million, for which there is no evidence of any work done.
Adongo stated that his side cannot support the approval of the facility, given the fact that an initial $200 million approved for the same project could not be accounted for.
