According to a recent report from Outcomes International on Ten Swing Constituencies, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is gaining significant support in constituencies that are crucial for securing electoral victory in Ghana.
The report is based on a survey conducted among 977 respondents in key swing constituencies across Greater Accra, Central, and Bono regions from February 10th to 25th, 2024, and it suggests that Dr Bawumia holds an advantage over the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer and former President, John Dramani Mahama.
The report’s overall performance analysis of the leading candidates reveals that Dr. Bawumia commands 43.5% support, which is slightly more than Mr. Mahama’s 42.1%. During the polling period, 6.9% of respondents expressed their intention to vote for other candidates, while 7.4% remained undecided.
The findings suggest a competitive landscape, with Dr Bawumia emerging as a front-runner in these pivotal constituencies.
The two top contenders for Ghana’s 2024 General Elections are Bawumia and Mahama. A recent survey report shows that Mahama is ahead in Ablekuma Central, Adentan, Ledzokuku and Awutu Senya West, while Bawumia leads in La Dadekotopon, Cape Coast North, Twifo-Atti Morkwa, Dormaa West and Jaman North.
Dr Bawumia’s unveiling of his vision for Ghana has helped him to close the gap on Mahama, who previously held the lead. The campaign is set to become even more intense as both candidates seek to gain more support.
In a previous survey, Bawumia was predicted to win the two polls held on August 27 and November 4 of last year.
