The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) former general secretary, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has voiced worries about the rising levels of corruption, greed, and theft of public funds in Ghana’s public and private sectors.
He regrets that these customs are ingraining themselves firmly in society and that they seriously impede the advancement and development of the nation.
At the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, during a memorial speech for Rev. Dr. Nkansah Kyeremateng, Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong emphasized that public service conduct and behavior should be a national priority for Ghana’s socioeconomic growth.
With respect to the theme, “Presbyterian Discipline: A Critical Tool For Reshaping The Youth For Ghana’s Socio-Economic Development,” Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) to include moral education alongside STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) in the curriculum
His goal is to raise a generation of citizens who will benefit the country instead of harming it.
“Morality is another M that we need to pursue in STEM. STEM needs an additional M.Without morals, STEM should not be done.I am really proud of our Minister of Education and all that she has accomplished, but if morality is not incorporated into STEM education, our beloved country may be creating intellectually deficient criminals for the next 20, 30, or even 50 years.
“Those who are skilled in engineering systems manipulation, as well as those knowledgeable in medicine, pharmacy, and other related fields,” he said.
