The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been relieved of his duties, along with Road Minister Kwame Amoako-Atta, Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu, and Interior Minister Ambrose Dery.
A major shake-up has taken place, with Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah moving to the Housing Ministry, while his deputy, Fatimatu Abubakar, takes over as the new Minister.
Around 13 ministers of state have been impacted by the recent reshuffle, including 10 cabinet ministers and two regional ministers. A press release from the presidency on Wednesday, February 14th, outlined the sacked ministers, those who had been reassigned, and the newly appointed ones.
There has been intense pressure on President Akufo-Addo to dismiss Mr Ken Ofori-Atta from his position. Some of the Majority MPs have also joined the chorus.
In October 2022, the President defended his cousin, stating that there was no basis for such an action. He said that Ken Ofori-Atta has performed his duties excellently, and therefore, he cannot relieve such a competent person of his position.
