Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has completed a 227-hour cooking marathon attempt after spending 10 days in the kitchen. Her goal was to set a new Guinness World Record at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.
During the cooking marathon, Failatu demonstrated exceptional culinary skills, creating a diverse range of dishes while also showcasing the rich culture of the Northern Region.
Her supporters praised her achievement as the stopwatch hit the 227th hour on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Failatu started the attempt on New Year’s Day to break the current longest cooking marathon record of 119 hours, set by Alan Fisher.
However, she ended up surpassing this record by an impressive 108 hours, completing the marathon in a total of 227 hours, 0 minutes and 2 seconds.
Before Failatu’s attempt, Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, also known as Mama D, had cooked for 144 hours and was waiting for validation from Guinness World Records.
Nevertheless, Guinness World Records has acknowledged Failatu’s marathon and stated that they are looking forward to reviewing her evidence.
