Ghanaians should anticipate more jobs being created by the government through various initiatives, according to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, the government created 2.1 million jobs in the last seven years.
On Monday, December 11, at the Sunyani launch of the government’s most recent business and youth intervention, the Business and Employment Assistance Programme, Dr. Bawumia made this declaration.
He explained that the initiative, spearheaded by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), aims to assist 10,000 young Ghanaian-owned businesses in hiring 20,000 youth, with YEA covering their salaries.
According to him, the 2.1 million jobs already created will be supplemented by the jobs anticipated to be created under the initiative.
This will create job opportunities and support the growth and survival of these businesses, he continued.
“The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) highlighted the Business and Employment Assistance Programme and other youth interventions under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and other agencies as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to creating more job opportunities for the youth. In addition to these interventions, the government has created 2.1 million jobs in the public and private sectors over the past seven years.”
