Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the School Feeding Program, passed away.
It is believed that she passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, the CEO of Ambar Quality Foods Limited, was born on February 1, 1960, in Dzelukope, Keta, in the Volta Region. She was not only well-known in the hospitality industry but also made a major impact on the food sector in Ghana.
Her late husband was a former minister in the Kufuor administration under Major Courage E. K. Quashigah (Rtd).
After completing her studies at Keta Secondary Senior High School, she decided to continue her education in a profession of her choice.
The Ghana School Feeding Program achieved significant progress in guaranteeing that children nationwide had access to wholesome meals under the direction of Mrs. Quashigah.
The initiative sought to improve students’ general health and well-being in addition to increasing enrollment, attendance, and retention in the school.
In May 2021, Gertrude Quashigah lost her job as the Ghana School Feeding Program’s national coordinator.
She was ordered to turn over any official records or property under her control to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection at that time, according to a letter from the ministry.
No reason was given for her removal in the letter dated May 18, 2021. President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo subsequently reversed the decision.
