Economist Professor Stephen Adei is warning Ghanaian politicians against exploiting the societal weaknesses of the country.
Instead of emphasizing the country’s societal strengths to foster development, politicians are exploiting weaknesses such as corruption and hero worship to further their interests.
This has impaired Ghanaians’ ability to choose good leaders, which has further eroded the country’s democratic dispensation.
Speaking on Joy FM on November 9, Adei stated that if the trend continues, disenchanted Ghanaians could lead an uprising against the government.
However, he is worried that such an uprising could lead to worse conditions than the country currently faces.
Adei is hopeful that recent calls for more accountable leadership will set in motion a movement to usher in better leadership for the country.
