Armed robbers shot and killed a private security guard at the Total -5 fuel station, which is located along the Koforidua -Akwadum to Suhum road in the Eastern region, adjacent to the All Nations University campus.
At approximately 8:00 PM on Monday, October 30, 2023, a brutally violent occurrence took place.
The armed robbery group moved quickly and methodically, breaking into the Total 5 fuel station in what seemed to be a carefully planned thievery.
This heinous robbery made its first victim the security guard on duty, whose identity has not yet been made public.
The security guard was shot by the armed robbers without hesitation, instantly killing him.
The manager of the service station’s brother was among those who were terrified of the robbery.
Despite the fact that this person was shot during the incident, prompt action was taken to make sure he got the care he needed at Eastern Regional Hospital.
The robbers escaped arrest before the Effiduase District Police Command arrived on the scene, despite their prompt reaction and the deployment of armed police officers.
Still, the police detectives are doing everything they can to pursue justice.They are interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence methodically, and putting in endless effort to find the suspects behind this disgusting act.
In an effort to aid in the pursuit of justice, the police in the area are now requesting cooperation from the public in the neighboring areas as part of this ongoing inquiry.
The lifeless body of the security guard has been transported to the Eastern Regional Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Fuel filling stations have recently become targets of armed robbers in the Eastern region.
Yilo Krobo municipality recorded the second Fuel station robbery attack on October 24, 2023.
The robbery gang targeted the Gaso fuel Filling station and a mobile money vendor in the heart of the municipality, situated approximately 200 meters away from SP GAS filling station, where a similar robbery occurred in the same horrifying modus operandi on October 11, 2023 at about 7:30pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the four armed robbers, including a female, with remarkable swiftness, executed their deadly mission in less than 8 minutes amid firing of sporadic warning shots.
Armed with pump-action guns, they managed to make off with an undisclosed sum of money from Gaso Filling station, in addition to a substantial amount of Twenty Eight Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 28,000) from the mobile money vendor.
